The closest thing to a doctor you have in your friend group

When you are first diagnosed, you are in shock, and you know NOTHING. Keep in mind that I have diabetes, so this just adds another "fun" complication to the equation. The ass cancer doctors don't know much about the beets (aka diabetes), and the beets doctor doesn't know much about the ass cancer. Enter, the closest thing to a doctor you have in your friend group (I didn't come up with this phrase by the way, it was my friend Jo who said it first). Again, I am SO fucking lucky to have one of my closest and long time friends, come in guns blazing and ready to do all of the research for me, and come up with a plan for my diabetes. By pure luck, she is a registered dietitian (not the fake kind "nutritionist"), this bitch went through years of schooling and is a professional dietitian and works specifically with diabetics. HALLELUJAH! Like a super hero, she called and emailed all of the diabetes supply companies, and came up with a plan for how to manage the beets during chemo and radiation. FYI: My diabetes equipment has metal parts, so going through MRI's/CT cans/radiation, etc, will fuck it up. Yeah, I guess they never planned for a diabetic on a pump and sensor to get cancer?!

Anyways, she found out all of the info for me, and gave me so many tips and tricks to manage this shit. I couldn't be more grateful for her, and I don't know what I would have done without her help.
